Lucius M. Dalton is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Radford University in Radford, Virginia where he majored in Business Finance. He earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology and Master of Arts Degree from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (now Union Presbyterian Seminary). He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from the Virginia University of Lynchburg (formerly the Virginia Seminary and College). Pastor Dalton received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Howard University School of Divinity. His study was entitled: Creating A Mission-Minded Congregation. In addition, Pastor Dalton has done Post Doctoral work as a fellow at the Lewis Center for Church Leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary.
Pastor Dalton has served as Pastor of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Virginia. For the past twenty- one years he has served as the sixth pastor of the historic Mount Moriah Baptist Church located in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, District of Columbia. Under his leadership, ministries have focused on Youth, Young Adults, and Senior Adults. Major improvements are being made to the church facility. He is President of Venture In Faith (VIF), an outreach ministry and Community Housing and Development Organization (CHDO) of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. He is a life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and currently serves as the Basileus of the Alpha Omega Chapter, the largest chapter in Omega Psi Phi.
Pastor Dalton served as a Doctoral mentor at United Theological Seminary from 2009-2020. The doctoral group was entitled: “Building Bridges for Church and Community Wholeness Through Preaching, Christian Education and Visionary Leadership.”
In December 2003, Orman Press published Pastor Dalton’s book entitled Doing What God Requires. His most recent book published by Authorhouse (2011) is entitled The Lord Will Provide.
Pastor Dalton is also Founder and CEO of The Dalton Management Group, LLC., which provides strategic solutions for success through comprehensive collaboration, coaching and consulting services.
Pastor Dalton has preached and taught all across the United States, the Caribbean, as well as on five continents. He has participated in Lott Carey’s Pastoral Excellence Program (PEP), which traveled to Guyana, South America, Jamaica, West Indies, and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Pastor Dalton is a self-described “sports fanatic” who also loves products by Apple. On his day off, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family. He is the proud father of two adult sons, Zachary and Jacob.
