MSBBCS Appoints Dr. Catherine Borges – Johnson as Bible College Dean

Dr. Catherine Borges – Johnson has been appointed as the new dean of Maple Springs Baptist Bible College, Interim President Marquez Ball made the announcement during a faculty all hands meeting last week. Rev. Dr. Borges-Johnson serves on the Ministerial Staff at the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, Maryland under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Henry P. Davis III. In this capacity, she oversees the church’s Evangelism Ministry; teaches the young adult Sunday Biblical Institute class and is the “Spiritual Advisor” for both the PSALMS Singles’ Ministry and the EMBRACE new members’ Ministry. Dr. Borges-Johnson also serves on the Board of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (“SCLC”), Prince
Georges’ County, Maryland Division.

Dr. Borges-Johnson received her Doctorate of Ministry (2016) from Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Capitol Heights, Maryland; a Master’s of Divinity (2014) and a Master’s in Evangelism, Church Planting and Church Growth (magna cum laude) (2011) from Liberty Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, Virginia; a Bachelor’s of Biblical Studies (magna cum laude) (2008) from Washington Bible College/Capital Bible Seminary, Lanham, Maryland; and two Certificates of Graduation with honors from the Jericho Christian Training College (1997-1999).

Dr. Borges-Johnson was Licensed to preach the Gospel in April 2004 and Ordained in April 2017. She is Certified in Christian Counseling from Liberty Theological Seminary and in Child Evangelism from Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Washington, D.C.

Over the years, Dr. Borges-Johnson has been the recipient of many awards and honors including the Adoptions Together Forever: “2014 Woman of Excellence” Award for her progressive ministry to senior citizens, young adults, children and especially single mothers throughout the DMV area. Dr. Borges-Johnson preaches and teaches a message of faith, hope, love and deliverance to all, through Jesus Christ. Dr. Borges-Johnson endeavors to serve the Lord with “gladness” as she strives to live her life as an ambassador for Christ. Her passion is to “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:2 & 5, KJV). Dr. Borges-Johnson is a native of Washington, D.C. She is the mother of five adult children, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild born 04/04/2020. Her scriptural vow is, “I will Bless the Lord, at all times: ‘His Praise’ shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).
